Van de terugplaatsing IVF wordt vaak in verband gebracht met de grote meerlingen, maar die zijn eigenlijk al jaren niet meer het gevolg van IVF of ICSI, maar van 'ontspoorde' ovulatie inducties en krachtige hormoonbehandelingen bij IUI. Zie hier iets over de meerlingproblemen
